What is your question?
I have an E250 2001 With the big v8. When on a hill the van would loose speed and just go 10 mph until I shut off the engine and after it sat it went for a short while and then drop speed again to 10mph. This happened twice and then began to happen on flat roads twice. I replaced the fuel pump. I replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor (Delphi) and also a sensor at the exhaust manifold. Ran great till suddenly on an incline at 70mph, the engine quit. then started, went 15 miles, died again going 35mph. after letting it sit, it started and I got home. The engine starts immediately every time in general and seems to perform on average fine except out of the blue freak stalls and shut down. Garage mechanics can't help because they claim the problem has to present itself for them to know.
What makes this problem better or worse?
no climate distinciton

I am wondering if you have an intermittent exhaust restriction suffocating engine performance. Indeed, hands on testing when the problem is occurring is needed. Basic testing and evaluation of basic components is a good start.
