Couple things: Code 708 does not refer to anything I can see in the EEC-IV trouble code index. So, I am concerned that the code is not valid. Second - I am nearly certain that your transmission is a C6 - which is a 3 speed non-electronic transmission. The E4OD was used with the stronger engines (Diesel, 460 perhaps, etc). The C6 is a vacuum controlled unit. You could possibly have a vacuum modulator problem if in fact it is the C6. You could also have an AOD transmission, which again is non-electronic. Or it could be an 4R70W electronic transmisson. This was a transitionary year for Ford and their transmission offering, so it is difficult to say from what I know so far what you have. One way to identify your transmission is to check your Data Plate on the drivers door or door jam. You will find on the bottom row "TRANS" which has a code. G = C6 T = AOD E = E4OD U = 4R70W Let us know what you have and good luck!
