when i turn on the heater i smell burnt oil.

Hello, it's likely you have a fluid leak of some kind that could be burning on engine exhaust after warm up. When you turn the heater on, you are inviting in outside air (unless you recirculate). This outside air will smell like the burning oil in that case. Have the car checked for leaks.
