What is your question?
My gear shift would not go into park all of a sudden and now I cannot start the car because it has to be in park to do so. I have it outside with emergency brake on so it will not roll away. Will I need a new gear shift?

The gear shift is part of the steering column. it sounds like you need some work done to your steering column, which would include the shift lever. Does your steering have a tilt column, because they tend to need much more attention?
im haveing the same problem i did look under the steering coulmn to see if mabey the link came loose or something but i dont even no what the link,or cable looks like.i just thought when i took the cover off from the steering column that some king of cable would b hanging or boke but i didnt see anything.i just see the little peace were a cable should be put on when i move the shifter on the steering column it moves also but nothing is attached to it an like i said i dont see anything hanging or broken.if u have any luck please pass it on an i will doe the same if i have any luck thanks
you have to reach up behind the steering wheel (you could remove the panel from under the steering wheel to make it easier) and fill around for a loose part that connects to the shifter you'll need an alen rench to tighten .this fixed the shifter in my 94 vic
no, my car is the same way but if you lay down on your back and look under the steering wheel with 1 hand on the shifter move it up and down while looking and the part that you see move under the steering wheel where the shifter is connected. Take a star wrench , it kinda look like a screw driver and tighten the screws back up or replace them if you are missing 1. Be sure to hold the shifter all the way up in park while you tighten them up.
it does have a tilt. You are referring to being able to adjust the actual steering wheel? If so, should I try to adjust that first then see if the gear shift moves to park in order to start? thanks
