What is your question?
I have a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria with a faulty headlight switch. One wire at the back of the harness has burned up. The headlights flicker and go out at will at random times and the auto lamp sensor in the dash makes a clicking grinding noise when the lights start to flicker. Does anyone know if the autolamp function can be bypassed and whether or not that could be what keeps burning up the wires to the headlight switch? Also the dash lights and taillights are difficult to get to come on, but I assume thats due to the wire shorting out in the switch
What makes this problem better or worse?
Happens randomly
How long has your 1992 Ford Crown Victoria had this problem?
Gradually gotten worse over several weeks

Hello, your headlight switch is actually a fire hazard and must be repaired. Replace the switch and the wiring connector block. This part is available, check with your local parts store for a source. When you repair your headlight switch properly, the other concerns should resolve. You simply do not have a choice to leave the switch and harness and connector as is. The cause of the concern is the excessive amount of power at the switch and the heat generated at the wiring connector. This is not an abnormal concern for this vehicle and part, and replacement of the switch and connector and repairing wires is the only solution.
