This is a hydraulically operated transmission primarily, with overdrive and the torque converter controls being the exceptions. Since you are speaking of "lower speeds" issues, I would concentrate on line pressures and hydraulic operations. My guess is that you may have an issue with the throttle valve cable and it's attachment and adjustment. This is only a guess; a qualified tech near you can figure out your concern probably pretty quickly. Good luck!

If pressures and internal adjustments are good, there's a service bulletin for cleaning the engine and controller grounds for this model. It's extremely common due to paint from the factory causing lack of ground for the computer.
