this happened to my mustang and it was a vacuum line broken thats what opens and closes the vent doors from vent,defrost,floor,etc.

the center air control door is stripped it happened to my 03 2500 you have to tear apart the whole dash to get at it there are some videos on youtube that show you how to replace it
