Typically this is caused by a vacuum leak - either a component leak or more likely a disconnected or leaking line. Have a look under the dash to see if anything is displaced.
i've looked everywhere thinking that that was the problem i am not saying that ther isn'ta leak or disconnected line but i did not see anything out of the norm. thank you
I THINK U R RIGHT
.was looking for like a back yard fix hate to spend much on it , i live san antonio tx only need heat a few weeks out of the year u know what i mean wonder if ther someway just to get at the doors and prop it open or something
I'm not entirely sure how it's set up under the dash, but in theory, if you get up under there, you may be able to get your hands on the doors and motor. The motor not working should not inhibit the doors from moving. If you can manually move it, they should stay in place. It will take some trial and error to get up underneath the dash and look. If there is no place to grab on to, you may have to pull the dash anyway.
i took off as much dash as i wanted just like glove box center cup holders radio and climate controls . was able to get to all the motors or at least four is what i found, the gears inside remind me of a overhead garage door opener with a small worm gear and all ,in all the motors the gears had got a little crooked or off track , so i took them out put them back in straight added new litum greas and reinstalled, it was a lot of work to get to them but i did and now i have heat defrost ac and all vents change good temp works good and cost me nothing but time and a 12 pak thanks alot

Look around under the hood too.
DODGES GATES OR DOORS MOVE ELECTRONICLLY NOT BY VACUUM
My apologies - I'm just reading up on that for this vehicle. Sounds like it could be a mode door actuator issue.
