What is your question?
2001 Ram 2500 diesel, automatic, 360000 mile. While driving instruments died except the tach. it works, I have a " no buss" display in odometer, overhead trip display has "CCD" displayed. Trans. doesn't shift seems like it is in 2nd gear which is what it was in when dash went dead. What should I look for? how to test the pcm to see if it is the issue?

1. Check the powers and grounds at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on pins 2 and 22 for the power, then pins 31 and 32 for ground on the C1 connector at the PCM. 2. Next, the 5 volt power supplies for shorts to ground. The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and the A/C pressure transducer are all powered by the two 5 volt supplies coming from pin 17 on the C1 connector and pin 31 of the C2 connector. 3. Backprobe into one of the 5 volt power supplies at the PCM with a Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM) and start unplugging the sensors one at a time, when the offending sensor is found, the 5 volts will return to normal. Many times when this happens the vehicle will not start. Another valid test is called a tap test. Have the vehicle running and while watching the instrument cluster lightly tap on the PCM to see if the problem occurs while tapping. This is a valid test noted per ASE testing procedures. Good luck
CoautoNV. Thanks for your reply. Checked pcm pins 2, 22 on C1for power they are ok (12v). Checked pins 31, 32 on C1 for ground, they are good. Pin 17 on C1 is for gas engines, I don't have a wire in pin 17 C1 for diesel. Pin 31 in C2 has 5v when plugged in and backprobed both when key in just on position and when running. I'm not suspecting any of the sensors shorted to ground. Did the tap test on the pcm, no change. Any other suggestions/ ideas? Thanks.
