We have a 2000 Dodge 2500 V-10 truck. The speedometer won't work. We used to have a light on the dash that said ABS and the Brake light was on. We replaced the speed sensor on the rear end, on the transmission and the speed sensors on both front wheels. It would work when we tried it, but the next day, it wouldn't work. I bought a new Rear End speed sensor to make sure the one I ordered online wasn't faulty, which it wasn't . Now, are there any other speed sensors on this truck that we don't know about? We have not had it checked to see if it does throw any codes, so that is next. We heard there may be one on the Steering Column, but don't know and haven't found any. We just don't understand why it may work one day, then quit and not work again for a period of time.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It just doesn't work after it has worked the previous day and now it won't work at all.

The speed sensor on the rear axle sends information to the Controller Anti Lock Brake Computer. From here, information goes to the engine's computer and the speedometer to provide speed and distance information, as well as proper running information to the various components that depend on speed (transmission, etc). It's really vital that you have a diagnostic tool available that can read both the information from the engine's processor and the anti lock brake system module to see if the speed is registering properly there. If not, you could have a problem with the wiring, connector, driven gear or something else.
