Why would a vacuum pump be cracked?

What is your question?

Would driving conditions crack a vacuum pump or would something have to come in contacted with it such as someone hitting or prying on it?

i would bet on the unit vibrating. if the bolts come loose, the vibration alone will cause the issue. Roy
