The Chrysler LA small block V8s use a different type of oil pump drive than you may be used to. The bottom of the distributor is like a slot type screwdriver. There is no gear. The gear is actually the oil pump drive that is in the engine. That is why the distributor can only be installed 2 ways, right, and wrong. The drive in the engine, though, if you remove that, will have to be properly timed upon installation, like any other domestic V8 that used a distributor. Remove the distributor, making sure the oil pump drive remains intact, spin the bottom of the distributor while attempting to restrain the rotor, and see if the distributor shaft is OK. Spin it in both directions. Then, look down into the engine, and see if the oil pump drive teeth appear OK. If they are OK, then you may have a broken camshaft, or a seized oil pump. Stripped oil pump drive, or cam teeth, are also bad news. Kind of unusual with such low mileage, that's why I would suggest the distributor check first
