How do I disengage the 4 wheel drive

What is your question?

I use the 4 wheel drive on my 95 Dodge Ram 2500 and then I disengage the 4 wheel drive and when trying to put it into gear there was a grinding noise. Since I use the 4 wheel drive the brake light and ABS light stays on and it feels like something is grabbing. Like maybe it might be stuck in 4 wheel drive or could it be the transmission?

What makes this problem better or worse?

After I've driven it more than just a couple of feet
