air condition leak

my rear air condition unit has a leak. I look underneath on the rear driver side and found the problem. there are four lines going up into the the unit the one nearest to the rear tire has a male female fitting. this was the place I found the leak. when I tried to loosen the connection the alum. tubing at the fitting broke. Can I eliminate the fittings and the use a hose with clamps to reattach the lines?
