What is your question?
I checked all the wiring and everything seems fine. When I wired it up, I used a higher quality splice kit that has water proofing gel and I wrapped the whole thing w electrical tape. There are no shorts or exposed wiring. The guy at the dealership said something about a sensor in the transmission that talks to the computer, telling it to turn on the lights. Could that be it? Can that be fixed easily? I'd pay for the repair, but its $110 just to diagnose it...

Diagnosing electrical problems requires someone with the ability to decipher wiring diagrams, perform the appropriate electrical circuitry and computer diagnosis and do it efficiently. This takes years and years of experience, and it is well worth $110.00. So when you say "just to diagnose it", you overlook the complexities of this type of work. The "easy" way is to let a professional do this.
