What is your question?
Should you be able to turn the front 4wd drive shaft side to side or should it be solid and not be able to turn like the back one?

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Ram 1500. In a 4WD system, it's normal for the front drive shaft to have some rotational play when the transfer case isn't engaged. This happens because, in 2WD mode, the front driveshaft isn't under load, and there's some natural play within the transfer case and differential gears. If the driveshaft has excessive side-to-side or up-and-down movement, or if it's making noise, that could indicate worn universal joints or other components in the driveshaft assembly that might need attention. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
