It started making noise like something was loose rattiling inside my overdrive started going out but If I shut off engine and restarted it would come back on.Now it will barely move at all.
What makes this problem better or worse?
If it doesn't go at all I can shut off engine and restart and it tries to engage but makes noise and slips
How long has your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 had this problem?
Overdrive started going in and out little over a month before.

Good Afternoon, The first thing is to check the fluid level and make sure it's full when hot, Is the check engine light on ? If so you would need to have the codes check to see if there is a computer problem causing the problem. On a lot of modern transmissions there are solenoids that do the applying. A computer problem could be causing your problems, but if not you may need to have the transmission replaced but without proper testing it's just guess work.
