My speedometer quit working and the brake and abs light is staying on.

First thing, make sure all the fuses are OK, and the brakelights work when you step on the pedal. Sounds like you have a problem with an ABS Wheel speed sensor (WSS) which is possibly where the speedo gets it's input on that vehicle. since the ABS light is on, a trouble code is stored in the ABS module and a mechanic with a code scanner could tell you what the code is and where to look for problems. You don't have ABS working if the ABS light is on, just so you know. The conventional brake system can work fine without the ABS system working. Find out what the code is and that will tell you where to look first. Sometimes a WSS will get fouled with steel particles from the brake pads and stop working. You may be able to see that if you look for it. You might be able to clean it and get it working if that's the case.
