When turning on headlights reverse lights come on too AND do not....

What is your question?

So I have reverse lights that are on anytime the headlights are activated. It does not seem to work with or when geared into reverse. What is likely the issue? Personally, I think it is a crossed wire somewhere. I am told likely in the trailer hook ups.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Nothing at the moment. Occured after someone work on the truck
