It has only done this 3 or 4 times. I'm thinking it is electrical

Hello, don't be too sure it's an electrical problem. When the powertrain control module sees an issue somewhere, it will alert you via warning lights. And eventually it will not allow the vehicle to run as designed until the concern is repaired, because further damage is being prevented, and a safety concern may be present while the problem is occurring. This problem may totally be an internal mechanical transmission concern that happens intermittently but often enough to set the check engine light.
