when i put my pvc valve in place the engine shuts off

If plugging the PCV line makes it run and installing the valve makes it die, likely a vacuum leak is the cause. Try removing the oil filler cap, with the engine running. If there is a vacuum on the crankcase, the intake gaskets are the most likely cause.
