Does anybody know what a shift solenoid a malfunction is?

The solenoid(s) A & B are covered by the pan. You have to remove the pan to get to them. They are next to the filter and to remove them, you need to remove four 1/2 bolts and two smaller star hex bolts. You unplug the wires from these solenoids. The pressure solenoid is held in with a bracket, while the pressure sensor (transducer) is held in with a keeper pin. They both simply push into place. These parts cost around a hundred dollars each buying them separate. I have a dodge durango, so it may be a somewhat different on yours but generally they are the same layout. They are still located in the pan. Hope this helps.

there is no code for wrong solenoid. it may throw the code but the code never identifies a bad part, just a failed syste. you need a trans shop to diag it properly and give you a bid. with a 12v system, it may have shorted and taken out the trans control computer. Roy

I Googled "Dodge Intrepid Shift Solenoid A" and see lots of articles. Transmission control relay supplies to the shift solenoid, the transmission control module supplies ground to the the various solenoids. It could be an internal problem, wiring or computer problem but see if you have power getting to the solenoid and then drive with a voltmeter attached to the wire at the solenoid to see if the computer grounds the solenoid as you drive. If it receives power and ground and the solenoid is new then the problem is internal in the trans.

Customer Concern: Transmission is not shifting. Has trouble codes P0700 and P0750. Tests/Procedures: 1. There are a few causes of this fault code. The Transmission or Electronic Automatic Transaxle (EATX) relay has a slower than normal response time causing the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to set solenoid codes. Testing the response time of the Transmission or Electronic Automatic Transaxle (EATX) relay is usually unreliable. A quick test is to swap the relay with an identical relay on the vehicle or just replace it and retest. 2. The transmission solenoid pack has a solenoid winding that has higher or lower than normal resistance. Unplug the 8-way solenoid pack connector and check the resistance of each of the solenoid windings. Normal resistance is 1- 3 ohms. Replace the solenoid pack if one or more solenoid windings have higher than normal resistance. 3. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) has one or more failed solenoid drivers. A lab scope may be used to show that one or more solenoid drivers in the Transmission Control Module (TCM) is not fully grounding the solenoid while it is automatically performing the diagnostic test on it. The TCM is constantly monitoring the performance of the solenoids that are not currently being energized. Replace the TCM if one or more solenoid drivers are found to be defective.
