I am interested in buying this car but when you put into any gear it dies. the owner says he had transmission problems and had the fluid changed. I am a pretty decent mechanic but am dumbfounded by why this happens. I have a replacement tranny but dont know if it would be something else. Help

Look at www.kbb.com and your local Craigslist the car may not be worth taking a chance on financially if it has or may have potentially expensive problems to fix. I guess retrieve trouble codes using a scan tool. A professional grade scan tool allows you to look at key sensor values without having to intrusively test each sensor. It's hard to guess without being able to do some basic tests. Any vacuum leaks at the air induction boot as the engine "torques" when put in gear, perhaps test the idle control system. There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... Alldata is very easy to navigate http://bit.ly/AllData_Repair_Manuals_Online
Patrick I agree with you. Unless this car is given to shredera2z stay as far away as possible.
