Radio popping ever 3-5 seconds and cuts out. What is problem?

2015 dodge grand caravan se v6 flex engine. I just bought this used and cheap. But radio pops every 3-5 seconds and cuts out when it does. Only my cd player works, no stations come in. Some are saying radio chip needs solder work. I'm wondering if a new stereo would fix this? Looking for ideas if I take to a installer what to tell them ahead of time to save money and labor.
