It sounds like the DVD player is not connecting to the screen, as the DVD message is much like the TV brand message that comes up when you turn on your home television. See if you have a bad conenction, check your fuses, check for power from the DVD player to the screen, and if everything is working properly, contact a dismantler to get the replacement at half the cost.
