why does my hazard lights activate on their own

Sounds like some kind of lighting system issue. I always ask first: are there any vehicle modifications? Anything related to lighting - like a trailer wiring harness that has been added? Has there been any damage to the vehicle, an accident or body repairs performed? In it's original, untouched state, there's not a real trend available indicating a problem like this.
