low on oil , is engine ruined
What is your question?
I have a leak but I normal keep the oil filled up I let it run low by mistake and now its knocking...did I ruin the engine?

I would have it looked at. An engine knock because of low oil is real bad. Serious engine damage is now occurring every time it's being driven. there probably is damage to the pistons or piston journals or the crank shaft damage due to inadequate lubrication.
