The engine has a coolant temperature sensor (ECT). Why ask about a relay? Are you concerned with the gauge reading, or are you concerned with the cooling fan? There is a relay in the fan circuit which is controlled by the engine controller, the gauge system does not need a relay because it does not switch anything on. On your engine the ECT is next to the thermostat housing.
