a/c concerns

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Keep in mind that the air conditioning compressor will run when the climate control system is on - even if the "AC" controls themselves are "off". This is because the compressor is used to dehumidify the interior of the vehicle. As a result, the compressor may run unless the outside temperatures are below freezing. Some positions off ventilation system may turn off the compressor - "floor" setting for example. You'll want to engage your owners manual to see what each position setting of the climate control does. Can you share more about what you mean by the "a/c is on all the time"?
