old tires need replacing

As long as you replace all 4 that should be fine. The ride will suffer slightly as you will lose some sidewall. Alex
A couple of quick notes. Because your outside diameter of the tire and wheel assembly will change by putting the 60 aspect ratio tires on the vehicle, you will now be providing inappropriate data to both the vehicle speed driven items of the vehicle, which can affect transmission shifting points, as well as antilock brake system operation and traction control operation. The variance, albeit slight, is still a variance, and going against factory required equipment is definitely a risk. Furthermore, the different tire size will change the load carrying capacity of the vehicle from that which is listed on the tire placard on the driver's door jamb. Alex is right, they fit, and the ride will suffer, and perhaps the variance is slight enough that for most it won't affect much. But being a "guy in the trenches" at a dealership every day working with clients and their vehicles myself, I can tell you that I've seen too much go wrong attributed to modifying from manufacturer requirements. Too much is relying on accurate wheel and tire diameter to not mention this information.
