2006 Town and Country Chrysler Rattle, clanking, not sychronized to engine speed

What is your question?

When its a cold start there is a random, no pattern, rattle, clinking sound that does not change with engine speed. There is no pattern, but its pretty much going all the time When the engine is hot, there is much less noise, sometimes almost none. The car seems to drive and perform correctly.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Less noise when hot
