I had issues with my 98T/C...It would run fine shut it down and go to start it and it wont start the alarm system light would flash and the vehical is a dead cell until it decides it wants to start again...after dumping a considerable amount of money into and not getting the problem fixed I YouTube's the issues its the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel pull it out and on the computer board there is a brokensolder point fix that and prop romblems begone
I know that banging on the dash, steering neck, instrument cluster works sometimes, but this may cause other problems so be careful and remember to find someone handy with a soldering iron to touch up the points on your electrical board. This has to be done with some care. Note: just got a '96 Town & Country. Took apart the cluster, found a burnt solder point, RPM & MILES & SPEEDOMETER not working. Burnt was in upper right of green panel. Did not repair it and put it all back because I determined it should not keep the van from starting. Rechecked all relevant relays and fuses, all ok. Could not ger gas pump to pump. Desired to take down gas tank and although previous owner told me it had a new gas pump, I found a faulty gas pump possibly that was used, or new and damaged by the pretense of foreign foul smelling liquid mixed in with the gas and it had melted the black float of the pump by clogging the filter and stressing the pump until it failed. SOLUTION: Bought new gas pump AND LINE FILTER, cleaned and washed gas tank interior, 're installed tank, installed New pump and line filter. Poured NEW gas in tank and after priming pump 3 time, was able to star van up with terrible rough starts. Next check entire combustion process and replace or clean everything to eliminate residue from bad gas that was in the line, plugs, injectors and everything related.
