Tried to replace with expensive top of the range light bulbs, but am still having the same problem. Has anybody else experienced this?

My left headlamp stopped working so naturally I changed the bulb. Few days later again the bulb did not work. Learned the connecter the bulb plugs into burned. I was told this is common with Chevrolet pickups. Mine is 2008 Chevy 2500. The housing for the bulb is not vented and creates heat and the wiring in the bulb connector gets to hot. That's what I was told. Knock on wood, I replaced the connector and now have no problems. I have my lights on auto but when I drive on clear days I try to remember to turn head lamps off as to not generate unnecessary heat.
