Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! The P0700, P0796, and P0751 codes on your 2010 Silverado 2500 HD point to transmission trouble, and while the Transmission Control Module (TCM) might be involved, it’s not the only suspect. - **P0700** is a generic code signaling the TCM detected a transmission problem. Think of it as the TCM waving a flag, saying, “Hey, look closer!” - **P0796** points to a problem with the pressure control solenoid (solenoid C) sticking or failing to operate properly. - **P0751** indicates an issue with shift solenoid A—either stuck off or malfunctioning. With symptoms like slipping, hard shifts, and delayed engagement, it’s possible the solenoids are gummed up or failing. These solenoids control fluid flow to engage gears properly, so if they’re not working, your transmission will throw a tantrum. Before replacing the TCM, I’d start with the basics: 1. **Check the transmission fluid**: Low, dirty, or burnt fluid can wreak havoc on solenoids. Top off or change it if necessary. 2. **Inspect the wiring and connectors**: Damaged wires or corroded connectors to the solenoids or TCM can cause miscommunication. 3. If fluid and wiring check out, a **pressure control solenoid or shift solenoid** replacement may be needed. Worst case, internal wear in the valve body or clutches could be contributing, but focus on the solenoids first. Budget-friendly repairs start there!
