oil pressure light comes on, just charged oil pump & sending switch still comes

6-8psi seems a bit low. 20-30psi is more ideal, depending on temperature and oil viscosity. What Oil are you running in it and how many miles are on the engine?

I had the same prob. Drop oil pump out and replace the o ring in the pickup tube. have mechanic screw oil pressure tester on in place of oil filter make sure its not the pump. Most likely will be o ring in the pickup tube.
