What is your question?
Took truck to dealer for total engine dia. Dealer claimed head gaskets were bad along with numerous other obd II codes. Found nothing wrong with gaskets that I could tell. Now I need the valve lash settings to go further. Can't find them in service manuals. Had a valve job done while heads out. Not to bad for machine shop. But did find one exhaust manifold stud drilled all the way through and into head water jacket. Told to use plenty of good sealant upon repairs on studs.

Hello, That machine shop would be buying me a new head. Sure, you can use sealant, but considering that stud is going to get hotter than anything else on that engine, you will likely have problems with it. Watch for a stream of white smoke if you run it. No need to set the lash, just torque them to spec. My guide shows the studs are 37lb.ft and the rocker arm retaining nuts are 19lb.ft. Check your guide for the torque specs as well, however. The net resulting lash is correct if all components are serviceable.
Thank you for the quick response to my question. But to be totally fair to my machine shop I use for every thing, I inherited the stud problem four years ago when I bought the truck. For weeks I had to keep adding coolant and found it on a trip, I have been trucker and always do my pre-trip and watch my gauges so I caught it before any over heating. and I'll figure out what to do with this problem. Once again, I thank you !
