Hi, I'm Bogi, one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Great question, and that's definitely a frustrating situation to deal with! Your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 not going into gear can point to a few different things. Low or burnt transmission fluid is one of the first things worth checking, as fluid that is low or degraded can cause the transmission to lose the hydraulic pressure needed to engage and move the vehicle. A failing transmission pump, worn clutch packs, or a broken driveshaft are also possibilities worth considering, particularly if there was any unusual noise or feeling just before the problem started. There also could be an electrical explanation for what you are experiencing. Given that this could several different things, I’d strongly recommend having a qualified shop diagnose this before attempting any repairs, as transmission issues in particular can become significantly more costly if not addressed correctly the first time.
