Oil pressure gauge is vacillating like crazy! Triggers low oil pressure alarm.

This is most likely due to a failing oil pressure gauge in the gauge cluster, this is common on the 03-06 Silverados. It could also be a bad oil pressure sensor however when that happen the needle will usually just go to 80psi and stay there so I think gauge is more likely. Each gauge has a motor that controls it's needle movement and when the motor goes out the gauge will either stick, jump around or die all together.
