My 2005 Silverado 4x4 automatic wont start. All dash lights and auto headlights come on. I have 12.8V at the battery. I replaced the starter relay in the fuse box and when I turn the key, I don't even get a click.

Had the same problem and had started a thread on this. Sold it (traded it) to my 87 year old dad. WW2 Bombadier and AF pilot retired. Would not sit until he fixed it... the greatest generation tinkered and while the starter worked most of the time, he replaced it and HAS NO PROBLEMS SINCE.
I have the same problem, and it is intermittent. Most of the time it starts right up. On rare occasions, without warning, I turn the key and dash lights + headlights come on, but no power to starter. A combination of lock/unlock doors both manually and remotely, key in and out of ignition, sometimes open and close drivers door, and you have to hold your mouth right...(sounds like voodoo?)...it will start right up. It has nothing to do with the battery, charging system, key, or anything else I can determine. Must have to do with computer, sensors, starter relay circuits or whatever. When this happens, it does not throw a code, so I can't trace it. Hope somebody can help us...
Check out the small wire on starter solenoid, mine was purple, there probably corrosion where the wire is crimped to connector, that's why slamming doors and locks and steering wheel works sometimes. It vibrating the wire enough to get the signal to the starter to engage. That was my problem. I was doing the same thing you was doing. I cut 2in of wire off and soldered new wire and connector on and no more problems.
