What is your question?
My 01 Chevy transmission went out. It is a 2001 Chevy Silverado 4.8 2 wheel drive automatic. Can I use a 98 Chevy 5.7 vortex to replace it

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! For your 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, you’ll need a 4L60E transmission that's compatible with your model year’s specific electronics and mounting setup. The 4L60E underwent updates, especially in the early 2000s, including changes in electronics and shift programming, which means a 1998 model won’t be a direct fit for a 2001 Silverado. Instead, you’ll want a **4L60E from a 1999 to 2002 Silverado** for the best chance of compatibility. Using a transmission from the wrong year could result in electrical incompatibility, different sensors, or physical differences that affect mounting and operation.
