1979 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 k10

Just bought a 1979 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 k10 motor is very strong I can switch gears I dey hear when it it's drive. I can't get it to move, rmp go up when pushing the gas.i check to see if drive shaft was move, was very little motion. Left it alone about and hour trade again and engaged and drove about 30 feet then part now nothing again? Any ideas
