Having the correct belt to install, knowing the proper belt routing (often times there is a routing label on the radiator support). and using the correct tool the release the tensioner are critical to installing the serpentine belt safely and correctly on your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. Begin by routing as much of the belt as you can without moving the tensioner. Next move the tensioner to release tension on the belt and install the belt over the last pulley. With the belt in place an all of the pulleys slowly let tension back onto the belt, seating it in the pulleys. With tensioner released and holding tension on the belt make sure the belt is properly seated in of the pulleys before starting the engine.
