What is your question?
Stalls, starts, runs a few weeks, then same thing again only this time no start. Been down three weeks. Bought it from a rip off used car lot says I still owe the balance of the contract. It first did this four days after paying $3,000 on it. This is the fourth time since I bought it four months ago. Fuel pump and pump relay replaced. All fuses good. No power to fuel pump. Battery checks good. Diagnostic machines won't function when plugged in. Tried a jump...no go. Tried reset of computer and theft system but battery died from that. I know the emissions are shot but would that cause this stall no start problem? I can't give it away the way it sits and dealer has title. All gauges work except tach and fuel gauge jumps to full when key turned then drops to center and stays. Why can I not get the diagnostics machines to read when plugged into my truck? It has a V8 454 7.3L. it's automatic 4x4 utility. I am old school these computer run vehicles make me crazy please help. Thx
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing either way-no crank, no start, no fuel, pump not activating
How long has your 1999 Chevrolet K3500 had this problem?
Four months off and on regularly

Hello, first of all - you won't get much diagnostic help with a fuel system issue. Most testing of a fuel system is manually performed. You also won't get an easy quick fix. My initial impression is that there's either a wiring issue to the pump and sending unit in the tank -- check the connector especially. Also, did you use a genuine GM pump assembly? It's more money, but when you replace just the pump, the sending unit (which is essential) is never addressed. So I'd recommend replacing all, if it turns out the wiring has proper power and ground at the pump. Yes, emissions controls is an issue and can cause problems! You can't just assume that can all be ignored. Check for a blown data link fuse - often the same fuse that powers lighters and power ports in the vehicle. This could be why you have no diagnostic tool communication. But, as I said, it may not help you much anyway. At the end of the day, professional help is what you really need.
