What is your question?
new switch. New brake booster. I can make the switch depress and brake lights work by pulling back on switch with my finger but pedal will not activate switch. It seems to just move with the pedal? I took a another switch off of a parts truck and it does the same thing as the new switch. Is the side clip on the switch that snaps onto the brake booster push rod the only thing that holds the switch so that the brake pedal pin can depress the switch? Please explain how this system is supposed to work? Thank you.

Hey, my name is Dusty, and I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. I'm here to help! That's correct; it moves with the pedal, so orientation is critical. When the switch is oriented correctly and the brake pedal is depressed, pressure is applied to the lever that opens/closes the switch contacts. If the clip that secures the booster rod, brake pedal, and switch assembly together is questionable, replace it with a new one; if it falls off while driving, chaos will ensue. Several comprehensive videos on YouTube chronicle the process that could be of use as well, "2000 Chevy truck K2500 truck brake light switch replacement" will return multiple viable options to help guide you.
