Thank you for reaching out to Car Genius. It sounds like your power steering is having some issues. There can be a few causes for lack of power and noises. Starting with a loose belt, that can cause noise and a lack of power. If the belt is in good condition and the proper tension, it could be the pump or box. IO would inspect both for leaks and overall condition. Next I would get a friend to help identify where the sound is coming from, the pump or box. It is fairly common for these to go out, with age and need to be rebuilt or more easily just replaced. If inspection these is out of your wheelhouse I would encourage you to have a local shop check your system for issues. Thanks again for reaching out to Car Genius. -Austin
