My truck needs a 70" drive shaft but it has a 65" on it and everything is the same from first made why can't I get it a 70" it to fit it

I bought the the truck from someone it has all of its normal stuff but it says it needs a 70" but the one it has right now is 65" I bought a 70" for it due to I need to replace my driveshaft but the 70" won't fit only the 65"..
