Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your K1500. The hard shifting and limited speed could indicate a problem with the transmission control system. When turning the key on or off, the ticking sound might be related to a relay or solenoid, which are critical for transmission operation. Having the transmission fluid level and condition checked is a good idea. Dirty or low fluid can contribute to shifting issues. Diagnosing the ticking sound is equally important, as it could point to an electrical issue affecting the transmission controls.
