Had engine running with ac on and the van stopped working.

Did van overheat, (it was 100 outside)and all the lights came on but an hour later, the van started....what could have been the problem? Will not leave engine idle again in hot weather.

You can find out by having the computer scanned to see if there any check engine codes, especially for the coolant temp sensor.
