how much to replace torque converter?

we were quoted $2600 for Our chevy 2500 van (2006), it only has 72,0000 miles. They said since they would already have to take out the transmission they might as well do a full overhaul of it and it would cost about $3,600. We are getting a quote from another mechanic, but they also said 3-4,000 range :(
