The latch on my 2009 chevrolet express sliding side door will work 3 or 4 times then you cannot open the door.

The latch or mechanical lock may be worn but would have to be closely examined to see what is going on or if it can be adjusted. I presume you have tried to lubricate the lock and latch with a good lubricant.
